Depending on where you live, you might be using the metric system or imperial system of measurements. For many a change in how we measure things can be confusing when we consider converting something in metric to something in imperial system. The term shitload has recently become part of the measurement system.
This term shit load, originated in in the early late 1800’s or early 1900’s. In those days they often used sewage scows which was a large water craft or boat that was used to transport sewage, garbage scows are still used today but sewage is usually transported by scows today.
These sewage scows would essentially transport shit from place to place for disposal or treatment. These boats would have a capacity of approximately 2.7 tons or 2700 KGs. This became known as a form of measurement known as a shit load.
In the USA, depending on where you are, the measurement equivalent would be different, east coast shitload, or west coast shitload. The Us Bureau of Weights andMeasurement have officially recognized shitload as means to measurement for commercial use and is set as 2.7 tons (2700 KG’s) of wet or dry weight.
