studious

When we hear the word studious, we think that it is related to studying, and it’s right. Studious people spend a lot of time studying or reading, and they find it relaxing to study and read.

If you watch the American television sit com “The Big Bang Theory”, Sheldon’s character is a very good example of a studious person.

He said that when he was in high school, his dad would force him to watch a soccer game before he could study physics and calculus. He didn’t enjoy the soccer game but he had to do it so he would be allowed by his dad to study.

Dialog:

Angel: Hi, Lou. Are you free on Sunday evening next week? I am inviting some friends for my birthday party.

Lou: Oh, I would love to go, but I need to study for my Algebra test. I can meet you and give you something on Sunday morning, after the church.

Angel: You really are very studious. You had high scores in your prelim test, and I’m sure you will be fine in your midterm test.

Lou: I don’t mean to be abnormally studious, but I absolutely need to study more. There are some problems in the book that I can’t solve, yet. If those problems are given in the test, I won’t be able to get a high score

Angel: I know you’re studying hard. But, common, it’s my birthday, and I want you to be there at my party.

Lou: Okay. You’re right. I think I’m being too studious. I’m sorry. I will go to your party.

Angel: Thank you for accepting my invitation. You can leave early if you want to study on Sunday night.

Lou: I might stay until the end of the party. I will just study harder this week so I won’t need to study on Sunday night. Partying is also a good way to relax.
